The largest fast-charging network in North America, opened to other brands that carry NACS ports.
What it changes
Removes the plug standard as a reason to avoid a non-Tesla EV, because the stations a road trip depends on can charge several brands.
Availability
Generally available (us, canada)
Access and cost
Get Tesla Supercharger Access — Pay per kWh in the Tesla app; non-Tesla drivers pay a premium unless they hold a monthly membership.
Evidence it works
- States that many Supercharging stalls are open to other EV drivers through the Tesla app and manufacturer-supplied adapters. — source
- Reported that non-Tesla EVs pay roughly a 40% premium at Superchargers unless they pay for a monthly membership. — source
Practical limits
- Only some stations are open to other brands and the list grows manufacturer by manufacturer, so coverage is uneven.
- Adapters must come from the vehicle maker, and a driver without one cannot use many of the open stalls.
